Lyrics For 9 Dinosaur Songs -
Bergman Broom Haywire Ensemble

1. Sixty-Nine Million Years - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

Back before McDonald's, back before TV
Back before rock music and Newsweek Magazine
Back before aerobics, back before your birth,
Big  monsters, big monsters, big monsters ruled the earth!
Back among crustaceans, back among the squid,
These beasts took their lazy bones and tucked them into bed,
Woke up Monday morning, caught the 8:02
Big creatures, weird creatures lived down the street from you.
Back before your homework, back before your school
Back before the world was one large swimming pool,
Back before aerobics and cavemen came about,
Big  monsters, big monsters were looking for food and hanging out!
Back before McDonald's, back before TV
Back before modern art and ancient history.
Back before "The Flintstones", guess who got here first?
Big  monsters, big monsters, big monsters ruled the earth!

2. Who Shall I Eat Next? - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

"Who shall I eat next?" said Mr. T-Rex.
He picked on all the others.  He ate his little brothers.
"Who shall I eat next?" said Mr. T-Rex.
"God forbid that I should miss a meal!"
He went to a dietician, who wrote out a prescription.
He read the doc's prescription, then he ate the dietician.
He went on a 10-mile paces on a daily basis.
He improved his social graces, but then he ate the other racers.
"Who shall I eat next?" said Mr. T-Rex.
He nibbled on his nieces into little bit-sized pieces.
What he lacked in mental he made up for in dental.
His tact was less than gentle, but his menu continental.
He went to a poetry reading.
He went to a OA meeting.
It took his mind off his eating, but his stomach kept repeating...
"Who shall I eat next?" said Mr. T-Rex.
He started on his nephews and turned them into refuse.
"Who shall I eat next?" said Mr. T-Rex.
"God forbid that I should miss a meal!"

3. Big Stegosaurus - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

Big Stegosaurus forgetting what he came here for.
You can see him walking in circles down at the grocery store.
His mother sent him out to buy some ferns,
But he was empty-handed when he returned.
Big Stegosaurus, forgetting what he came here for.
Big Stegosaurus, dripping in the monsoon rain,
Like a walking state of Texas with little Rhode Island brains.
His head can fit into a tiny crack,
One day he stuck it in and never got it back.
Big Stegosaurus forgetting what he came here for.
Needle-nose!  Needle-brain!  Filbert-brain!
There he goes walking 'round the grocery store,
Big Stegosaurus, forgetting what he came here for.
Big Stegosaurus, forgetting what he came here for.
You can see him walking in circles down at the grocery store.
At the local Steggy Sing-a-long: everyone know the words to every song.
Big Stegosaurus, forgetting what he came here for.

4. Archaeopteryx - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

I am the newcomer on the block.
I'm not much bigger than a crow.
I would rather glide than fly, but I look like the birds you know.
I was a grand improvement over the bat-winged birds.
I am the Archaeopteryx in not-so-many words.

Chorus:    I sing a strange and ancient song.
I sing a strange and ancient song.
I sing a strange and ancient song in not-so-many words.

I bought myself some winter clothes.
I bought myself some reptile scales.
The Pterodactyl was a nice old guy, but the Pterodactyl failed.
They call me an opportunist 'cause I grew these feet for the ground.
But you got to roll with the changes, man,
If you want to stick around

5. Triceratops - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

That ugly, little three-horned beast,
On the jungle brush he'd feast.
He was minding his own business when along came Tyrannosaurus.
His foreign policy was peaceful,
But he could also be deceitful,
When faced with a sudden danger from a most unwelcome stranger.

Chorus:    Triceratops! (The tyrant king is dead.)
Triceratops! ('Cause he learned to use his head.)
                 Triceratops!  Triceratops!

He would charge when caught off-guard with horns just like a rhino.
He earned the scars of a life lived hard.
He's a well-respected dino!
Very few would stand up tail to that tyrant monster's great big jowls.
But that ugly, little stumpy, horned beast,
Why he overturned nature's laws.
Tyrannosaurus thought it was cool to take a hearty, juicy bite.
But that little beast, he came up pretty fast,
And punched a hole in his appetite.

7. The Armored Lizard Waltz - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

A popular gal was the Ankylosaur,
Living her life just a foot from the floor.
All the girls out 'til a quarter past four doing this dance with the Ankylosaur.
Is it?  Is it?  The Armored Lizard Waltz
Is it?  Is it?  The Armored Lizard Waltz
"Lizard, lizard, oh, you're pretty too..."
And what a night for the Ankylosaur
'Cause she had the same feelings for you.

8. Thesaurus Thesaurus - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

Thesaurus Thesaurus, he'd sit all day and read.
Not like the other reptiles who would walk around all day eating.
He went to a fancy restaurant but the menu is all he'd really want.
Thesaurus Thesaurus, the four-eyed dinosaur.
Thesaurus Thesaurus, his life was on the line.
He went out for a Sunday drive, just to read the highway signs.
His thirst, his thirst was ever great,
But he never drank and he seldom ate.
Thesaurus Thesaurus, the forlorn dinosaur.
When a friend would come up to him and say,
"Hey, what's the good word?"
-- It took him the whole weekend to reply.
He'd start out by saying to them,
"Well, have you heard...?"
They'd try to find the right word for a fast goodbye!
Thesaurus Thesaurus, his life was on the line.
When he went out for a Sunday drive, just to read the highway signs.
He lived a lifestyle filled with piles, filed by content, form, and style.
Thesaurus Thesaurus, the four-eyed dinosaur.

9. Timeless Lullaby - Bergman Broom (c)(p) 2001 DinoSongs Music

When the very last dinosaur closed the light and shut the door,
Packed her bags for the distant shore,
Saying she would return someday.
Sing a timeless lullaby at the time you want to cry.
Everything will be all right and what's done is just done and we must carry on.
"We leave the ocean and the land into your tender human hands
hoping that you will understand that the blessing is shared by all."
Sing a timeless lullaby at the times when you'll want to cry.
This is out time to say good-bye and what's done is just gone,
and we must carry on...
