Yo Mobii, my great friend Gene visited me here in Buffalo - he got to
see MOBIUS live for the first time. We invited him to review a MOBIUS
rehersal - here's what he had to say:

   Fellow "Mobius" fans: This is a review of the new and improved band! 
   My visit to Buffalo, New York this past weekend was very productive--I 
   caught up on 11 years of friendship, frustration, and fun with David 
   Ira Schwartz. A disclaimer: while I've been following heavy metal for 
   about 15 years, my musical preferences lately have drifted towards 
   neoCeltic, classic rock, and jazz. Dave is my friend, so I'm biased. 
   At the same time, however, I can definitely say that "Mobius" rules!!!
   
   O.K. I had heard an audiotape of the band a few years ago, before 
   member turnover and recent notoriety. It was standard angst-ridden 
   howling, with solid instrumental backup. On Sunday, 8 June 1997, I had 
   the honor of sitting in on a practice session (thanks again to our 
   hosts for the beers). The music was loud, the energy infectiously 
   positive, and everyone was friendly. As my role-playing acquaintances 
   know, a group on the rise is an incredible kick. Recordings don't do 
   justice to their live performances! I understand that attendance at 
   gigs at "the Continental" has gone from 10 to 100 people! 
   
   More specifically, Dave/Ira (currently the senior band member), while 
   tired, beat the drums with atavistic vigor and much-needed release of 
   tension generated by academia and relationships. Chet/J.C., the 
   guitarist, kept the mood light and offered constructive criticisms. 
   Mike Hynes, the bass player, contributed some interesting chords 
   despite recent equipment difficulties. Sam Pantano, the newest member 
   and vocalist, has learned the lyrics quickly and should develop the 
   stamina and technique necessary for the demands of the band's evolving 
   style. "Mobius" is less anger-driven (although we all have our 
   problems), but still passionate. 
   
   Increasingly skilled covers (of "Helmet") plus original songs; 
   willingness to experiment with blues, rap, and other genres; and 
   organizational enthusiasm are driving "Mobius" to the top of metal in 
   Buffalo and soon elsewhere! Thanks to the band's rededication, "Mobius" 
   is going multimedia! Yes, there's an e-mail newsletter ("Richard," 
   contact "dis@eng.buffalo.edu"), a site under construction in the World 
   Wide Web (at "www.yrbook.com/Mobius"), audiotapes, T-shirts, 
   videotapes, and soon, a CD! I strongly recommend that everyone check 
   them out. Even if you're not a metalhead, you'll appreciate the band's 
   progress and triumph of will!
